The article touches upon the onomasiological aspect of German colloquial metaphors in comparative terms, compares the reflection of abstract concepts in German and Russian everyday communication. The comparative research approach makes it possible to reveal the ethnic originality of the linguistic picture of the world of the speakers of both languages, as well as to establish associative universals in the metaphorical worldview. The subject of study in this article is a previously unexplored group of colloquial name transfers from the concrete to the abstract. The connotative aspect of colloquial designations of the most significant abstractions in everyday life is also analysed.
