The article deals with the concept of “London” in Charles Dickens’ novel Great Expectations, and the features of his translation into Russian, as well as the role of the author’s picture of the world in a literary text. The role of the conceptological approach to the study and analysis of a literary text is noted. The authors of this article also analyse the translation decisions made for the successful interpretation of the author’s thought into Russian and the adaptation of the original text for the Russian-speaking reader. The affiliation of the translation text to the fourth level of equivalence is determined, according to V. N. Komissarov.
