Ogilvie syndrome is a clinical condition in which there is a colorectal distention in the absence of mechanical obstacles. Early diagnosis and appropriate therapy significantlyreduce mortality. The incidence of this is not known. This paper presents the course of diagnosis and treatment, both conservative and operational, of an 82 year old patientwith pulmonary embolism, burdened with coronary artery disease, hypertension, heart failure and chronic kidney failure, in which the hospital diagnosed Ogilvie syndrome.
