The article discloses the essence of the concept "investment attractiveness of the
region" and examines the main groups of factors that affect it. A brief economic and geographical description of the Irkutsk region is given. On the basis of the conducted SWOT-analysis and analysis of
the dynamics of investments in fixed assets, as well as the rating evaluation of the "Expert RA" the
basic perspective directions of development of investment potential of the Irkutsk region in the future
are described.
