The article is devoted to the study of the criminological characteristics of migration crime on the example of the Altai Territory, as a border area with a large influx of migrants. The article examines the current causes and conditions of migrant crime. On the basis of a set of determinants, the authors develop a set of both general and special preventive measures that will lead to a significant reduction in the level of illegal migration processes in Russia and, as a result, to a decrease in crimes committed by and against migrants.
