- High MPV acts as a risk factor for vascular complications of Diabetes Mellitus. Increased MPV indiabetic patients might have a role in genesis or worsening of acute ischemic stroke.OBJECTIVEŸ To study the Association between platelet indices and acute ischemic strokeŸ To study the Association between platelet indices and severity of acute ischemic stroke in Diabetes patientsŸ To study Association between platelet indices and outcome of acute ischemic stroke in Diabetes patients.METHODS -Ÿ prospective observational studyŸ Inclusion- all patients with acute ischemic strokeŸ NIHSS assesed at admissionŸ Platelet indicesŸ MRS score assesed on 7th dayŸ Exclusion- haemorrhage in CT scan ,patients<18 years of age.Ÿ Sample size =100RESULTSŸ Diabetic patients with ischemic stroke had higher PDW ,MPV & PCTŸ No significant association was found between platelet indices and severity of strokeŸ Higher value of MPV,PDW & PCT were associated with poor outcome.
