Background: Lung cancer is the leading cause of death in developed countries and is increasing at alarming rates indeveloping countries also.1 This study is designed to determine accuracy of bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) as compareto the gold standard histology examination of lung biopsy. Materials and Methods: A retrospective study wasconducted,total 46 cases of BAL which were suspected for lung carcinoma and 17 cases of lung biopsy (cases who needconfirmation after BAL) were received at G.K general hospital, Bhuj from a period of 2.5 years. Conclusion: Our studyconclude that BAL cytology has diagnostic yield of 50%,sensitive of 66.67%,specificity of 100% and efficacy of 64%.
