The theoretical aspects of the use of the didactic material of the "Keizer's wand" as a developing element of the intellect of the students of the New Ukrainian School are highlighted in the article. The importance and role of innovative methods in teaching the children of junior school age are revealed. The analysis of scientific researches, directed on the use of J.Kuizer method is given. Attention is drawn to the continuity of pre-primary and primary education through the play form of learning. Examples of different forms and methods of working with children are given, given their age characteristics.
