In the field of electrical power sector frequency as aparameter plays an important role. The value of frequency is notconstant, varies according to the load conditions. The powersystem functionalities like operation, monitoring and controllingof electric device are having lots of contribution to it. So it isrequired to measure the accurate value of this slowly varyingfrequency. The total power generated by generating stations isequal to the power consumed and losses under steady stateconditions. Due to sudden mismatch in the appearance ofgeneration and load can deviate the frequency from its nominalvalue. Frequency is an important parameter which influencesfunctions of different relays. This study was performed tocalculate the frequency of voltage or current signal in thepresence of noise and distortion. In this paper Least MeanSquare (LMS) Filter is studied and its frequency estimations arediscussed.
