With the advancements in number of technologies, communication has taken a bigger leap. A number of messenger applications have been developed to exchange data and information through the Internet. This data is very private and can be vulnerable to security attacks. Hence, it must be protected with certain encryption technique to keep the information confidential and away from unauthorized access. In this paper, a brief study is done on different encryption techniques in messenger applications and the conclusions are presented.
