Vannamei shrimp cultivation has an important role in increasing fish production to meet the food and nutritional needs as well as to meet the needs of domestic and foreign markets, to expand employment opportunities, to increase incomes and livelihoods of fishers and fish farmers, as well as preserving the aquatic biological resources. The aim of this study is to analyze the efficiency level of vannamei shrimp cultivation in Takalar regency. The research was conducted in Takalar regency, South Sulawesi from August to September 2018, the respondents were selected by using the cluster sampling method. The results show that the determinant coefficient (R2) is 0848 or 84.8 percent. This means that there is an 84.8 percent influence of the independent variabels of Labor (X1), feed (X2), Seeds (X3), and Technology (X4) on the average production of vannamei shrimps (Y) in Takalar, while the remaining 15.2 percent is caused by other variabels not included in this study. The influence of feed, seed / juveniles, and technology related positively and significantly to the production of vannamei shrimp in Takalar regency, while the labor variabel is relative positively but not significantly. The scale of vannamei shrimp business in Takalar regency is in the position of Decreasing Return to Scale. Presently, none of the of production factor vannamei shrimp cultivation reaches the level of economic efficiency.

Budidaya udang vannamei memiliki peran penting dalam usaha meningkatkan produksi perikanan untuk memenuhi kebutuhan pangan dan gizi serta memenuhi kebutuhan pasar dalam dan luar negeri, memperluas kesempatan kerja, meningkatkan pendapatan dan kesejahtraan nelayan dan petani ikan, serta menjaga kelestarian sumberdaya hayati perairan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah menganalisis tingkat efisiensi budidaya udang vannamei di Kab.Takalar. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Kabupaten Takalar, Sulawesi Selatan pada bulan Agustus-September 2018. Penentuan responden dengan menggunakan metode Cluster Sampling. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa koefisien determinan (R2) yang diperoleh adalah sebesar 0.848 atau 84.8 persen yang dapat diartikan bahwa terdapat 84.8 persen pengaruh variabel independen Tenaga Kerja (X1), Pakan (X2), Bibit (X3), dan Teknologi (X4) terhadap rata rata produksi udang vannamei (Y) di Kabupaten Takalar, sedangkan sisanya yaitu 15.2 persen disebabkan oleh variabel variabel lain yang tidak dimasukkan dalam penelitian. Pengaruh pakan, bibit/ benur, dan teknologi berhubungan positif dan signifikan terhadap produksi udang vannamei di Kabupaten Takalar, variabel tenaga kerja berhubungan positif namun tidak signifikan terhadap produksi udang vannamei di Kabupaten Takalar, skala usaha budidaya udang vannamei di Kabupaten Takalar berada dalam Decreasing Return to Scale. Belum ada faktor produksi usaha budidaya udang vannamei yang mencapai tingkat efisiensi secara ekonomi
