Resumo: Com o propósito de refletir sobre o potencial significativo de representações visuais, iniciamos o presente trabalho com a relação entre ciência e linguagem e os embates de linguagens distintas e as híbridas, notadamente as midiáticas, no ambiente educacional. Em seguida, apresentamos a análise de uma representação visual a partir de uma proposta de Santaella (2002). A fundamentação teórica envolve também Valery (1998), Santaella e Nöth (2001), Dondis (2010), Durand (2004) e Maffesoli (2005). A relevância deste artigo está na proposta de “educação do olhar” para as representações visuais. Palavras-chave: Mídia. Educação. Linguagem. Representação visual. "EDUCATION OF THE LOOK”: THE VISUAL REPRESENTATIONS IN FOCUS Abstract: In order to think about the significant potential of visual representations we began by thinking the relationship between science and language and struggles of different and hybrid languages, specially the media language, in the educational environment. We also present the analysis of a visual representation as proposed by Santaella (2002). The theoretical framework also involves Valery (1998), Santaella and Nöth (2001), Dondis (2010), Durand (2004) and Maffesoli (2005). The relevance of this article is in the fact that it suggests the possibility of "education of the look" for the visual representation. Keywords: Media. Education. Language. Visual representation.
