In the paper author presents chosen analytic formulas for determining mass flow of heat and smoke into smoke reservoir in prescribed layout of vertical and horizontal wall boundaries, which include room where the fire starts, a wall with an opening and a downstand, and a projecting balcony, all fit inside a large volume building. Results of analytical calculations were compared to the results of performed numerical studies using CFD method, and the final design guidelines are given.
