. Each investor is interested in obtaining maximum income at all stages of the investment process. There is a need to hedge investment risks to increase the overall level of expected profitability. Nowadays, solving the problem of choosing ways to diversify an investment portfolio requires expanded interpretation. Purpose. The article aims to carry out the analysis of current state of the market of alternative investments; to investigate the efficiency of investing in non-traditional tangible assets; to identify the potential benefits and risks for an investor from investing in a wine collection. Results. The article investigates functioning of modern market of alternative investments, in particular investments in wine collections. Qualitative and quantitative analyses of the current level of alternative investments development around the world have been conducted. The paper has also considered the main aspects of non-traditional investment activities along with their key advantages and disadvantages. The risks which are associated with attracting investment in wine collections have been analysed.
