This article discusses the importance of the media, which play various socio-political roles, one or another of which, depending on a certain number of typical socio-political situations, is of particular public importance. Due to the emergence and large-scale development of the information system and technologies, mankind has acquired a new mode of existence - the information one, which has become an increasingly significant and inalienable phenomenon of the surrounding world, the possibilities of informational impacts on the person have increased many times, presenting increasing adaptive requirements for him and society as a whole. The modern world is characterized by the rapid development of information technology. Therefore, more and more attention is paid to the problems of mass communication processes. Currently, information flows have received a powerful impetus to growth due to the continuous increase in the number of databases, personal computers, human resources involved in the field of communication and mass communication technologies. The activities of the media not only can, but actually have a profound effect on the individual, as part of society and on society as a whole, including the negative. Regarding the issue of the importance of criminological monitoring and its coverage in the media, this issue is practically not considered and not mentioned in the media, with the exception of some aspects of anti-corruption criminological monitoring.
