Objectives to evaluate the occurrence of the main cardiovascular risk factors in medical students.
Material and methods. The MMM-18 registry included 177 students of Samara State Medical University with mean age of 21.0 years. All the students filled in a survey form anonymously, where they stated their age, gender, height and weight, smoking status (yes or no), alcohol consumption (never, once a week, regularly) and also known cardiovascular diseases (coronary heart disease, stroke) and diabetes mellitus.
Results and Discussion. The study confirmed the important role of conventional cardiovascular risk factors such as smoking, high body mass index, elevated blood pressure. These findings support the necessity of periodical screening of medical students in order to timely detect and correct the above-mentioned risk factors.
