This article describes two main types of pseudo-scientific activity - pseudoscience and ersatz science. Pseudoscience is in opposition to traditional science and claims to discover the truth by alternative means. Ersatz science is an imitation of scientific activity, without creating new knowledge. The difference between these science simulacra is manifested in their typical linguistic features, for example, in the specifics of terminology. The main distinctive feature of the ersatz science is redundancy, which is manifested in the abuse of terminology (usually borrowed and hard to understand), in surplus citation and appeal to authorities, in the inclusion of sources that are unnecessary for a given text.
