The study of transport infrastructure from a regional perspective allows to solve two tasks: improvement of transport availability and reduction of transport discrimination of the population. For the most complete analysis of transport infrastructure, it is necessary to consider the results of a complex study of living conditions of the population in terms of settlements of different types (urban and rural) and different people, as well as on separate age categories and other parameters. The intensity of transport use is higher in large settlements among the employed population at working-age. Proceeding from the data obtained by comprehensive examination of living conditions of the population, we have made a hypothesis that there is a correlation between active recreation activities and the proximity of places (or their absence for such activities), which in turn would confirm the significant role of the transport factor in the implementation of the recreational needs of the Russian population. The level of passenger car ownership significantly differs from the data of traffic police registering cars in all regions of Russia. The use of taxis by citizens with low living standards is relatively affordable. The analysis of the presented data of the complex study of the population life in relation to the transport complex contributes to a better understanding of regional processes in the field of population satisfaction with the quality of transport infrastructure in general and, in particular, with the work of public transport.
