The article covers the history of preparation and publication of the first grammars of the languages of peoples of the Ural and Volga region - textbooks for the Chuvash, Udmurt, and Mari languages. The books were published in 1769 and 1775 in St. Petersburg, in the printing house of the Academy of Sciences.
