The main directions and results of the epidemiological risk studies for acute intestinal infections in theRussian Federation, rotavirus infection and shigellosis, which differ in their characteristics, arepresented in the article. The tasks of the epidemiological surveillance related to risk assessment have beenidentified, and the ways to their execution have been proposed.
