Extreme hydrological phenomena are a considerable hazard for population of the Upper Ob basin. In 2014 and 2018 extraordinary hydrological situation occurred that were caused by an extreme difficultly forecasted flood with water discharge rate of rare repeatability. These hazardous hydrological phenomena were formed as a result of the abnormal hydro/meteorological conditions combination: positive temperature anomaly with caused snow and glaciers melting in the mountains and formation of the abnormal, in respect of volume, area and duration, zone of rain precipitation in the Upper Ob basin. In 2016–2017 flooding of inhabited locations and infrastructure installations with melted snow water and groundwater was a serious problem in the Upper Ob basin. Forecasting of the similar processes and studying of their dynamics is an important task, to solve which different methods are to be employed. The risk of flooding and other negative water impact will continue to present and intensify with more often occurring of hazardous hydrological phenomena due to the recent natural/climatic changes, continuous anthropogenic development of the periodically flooded territories. Forecasting of hazardous hydrological phenomena and studying of their dynamics is an important task to solve which different methods are to be applied.
