The paper identified the problems of design and construction of artificial floodplain channels in Transbaikalia. A new method of construction of artificial water bodies aims to prevent erosion and reduce water pollution with suspended solids due to changing the properties of the constituent building ground. The authors cover issues related to the difficulty of determining the damage to water bodies when applying artificial channels in the absence of a consistent methodology for this type of work. A comparison of charges for watercourse pollution with suspended solids when constructing an artificial floodplain channel (the Chelutay River, Transbaikal region) according to the traditional technology and according to the proposed method.
