Analysis of the most well-known method of calculation of dilution process in rivers proposed by V. A. Frolov in 1950 has been carried out. Its popularity can be explained by its simplicity and successful selection of the determining parameters. The character of this method connection with the models constructed on the basis of diffusion K-models has been demonstrated. Assessments of its optimal application sphere have been given.
