RESUMEN El objetivo de este artículo es identificar las característicasfundamentales del bertsolarismo. Se trata de una disciplina calificada pormuchos autores como literatura popular, pero actualmente esa generalizaciónactúa como freno para quien quiera profundizar en su investigación. Losesquemas derivados de la literatura escrita no bastan para abarcarlo en suintegridad, y para construir un marco teórico a su medida, en este artículose recurrirá a las aportaciones realizadas desde las teorías oralistas.LABURPENA Artikulu honen helburua bat-bateko bertsolaritzaren funtsezkoezaugarriak identifikatzea da. Autore askok herri-literaturatzat sailkatuizan dute, baina egun orokortasun horrek mesede baino traba gehiago egitendio bertsolaritzaren ikerketan sakondu nahi duenari. Many authors have described it as popularliterature, but this generalization is an obstacle for those who want to godeeper into their research. Schemes derived from written literature do notprovide enough guidelines to approach the issue, so in order to build anadequate theoretical framework, this article will resort to contributionsmade from the oralist theories.
