The Southwest region is Viet Nam’s largest agricultural center, which not only ensures the country’s food security, but also contributies to the country’s exports. However, while many other regions are growing rapidly, the Southwest region is steadily behind in economic output. This study will focus on understanding the limitations and shortcomings in economic growth of the Southwest region. The results of the analysis showed that, under the negative impact of climate change along with sluggish restructuring, and lack of resources to invest in infrastructure, the economic growth rate of the region is slow and difficult. In addition, the phenomenon of net migration over time has made the region short of labor resources to meet the development needs of enterprises. Limited infrastructure along with a shortage of labor resources in both quantity and quality make the investment environment of the Southwest less attractive to investors. Thisseriously affects the region’s development expectations.
