In article the problems of classical methods of transverse section wear of railsreplacement with new techniques based on electronic devices was concerned. Reasons of railsshape section changes were defined. Principles of rails waste inspection resulting fromregulations were reminded. Review of practical measurement methods and devices weremade. Shapes of nominal sections of rails used in tram tracks were analyzed. Realization ofmeasurements executed with mechanical-electronic profile gauge and mechanical track gaugeon tram-loop Sępolno in Wrocław were described. Proposal of graphic manner analysis of railwear measurements in connection with track width measurements were proposed. In summaryconclusions from effected investigations were formulated.
