This article discusses the problems of evaluating the friction of textile materials, the main characteristic of which is the tangential resistance coefficient. In the absence of a standard for friction and modern devices, the development of new automated devices is topical. To implement the possibility of testing for friction, with the translational movement of touching planes, an automated device based on an upgraded nozzle has been developed for a breaking machine that implements Ederley principle. The device allows one to numerically determine the value of the tangential resistance coefficient of fabric samples. The data received by the device is transmitted to the computer for further processing and presentation to the user in graphical form. At the same time, the process of collecting and processing the received information is automated as much as possible. The developed automated device allows one to optimise the choice of materials taking into account friction.
