In the first volume of Alexander Ostrovsky's collected works, the universality of the methodological approach and the completeness of the coverage of the great playwright's texts is demonstrated. The analysis of critical reviews of Alexander Ostrovsky's works is highly regarded, and the Orthodox dominant of his creative work is conclusively identified. In the first volume of the collected works, the process of birth of Russian realistic drama is traced and the diverse ways of the national theatre development are planned.
