Such fundamental laws of development of legal systems as legal acculturation and expansion are considered n the article. Attention is paid to their objects, issues, subjects, participants, equipment, tactics, strategy, determining factors and results. Topicality of this problem is due to the fact that acculturation is often identified by Russian and foreign authors with legal expansion. The author shows the features of legal acculturation and expansion technologies as relatively independent in the development of legal systems. Attention is paid to the fact that acculturation is considered to be the voluntary perception of the elements of one of the legal systems in order to improve and develop another legal system. The essence of expansion is the imposition by the subjects and participants of one legal system (its individual elements and properties) of one state into the legal space of another country.
