
An Overview of Research on Turkish Language Education: A Bibliomety Study

There are several indicators that distinguish an academic discipline, including journals, lectures and graduate programs. One of them is the presence of academic publications in the respected citation indicators such as Web of Science (WoS). The aim of this study was to examine the published studies in the field of Turkish language education in scientific journals scanned by WoS. In the study, data was collected through document analysis and citation analysis methods in orderto understand the contents of the studies conducted in this field. A total of 128 studies on Turkish language education included in WoS academic database were examined and the findings obtained from the analysis were shown in tables. According to the results, information related to the most discussed and examined topics in Turkish language education, the countries and institutions that support the studies, the authors who contributed the most to the articles and the language in which the publications were more frequentlymade, and which keywords the authors frequentlyused,had been reached.According to these findings, it is possible to note that studies on Turkish language education has increased in the last 10 years, but it is still insufficient.
