The target of the research is the conceptual and terminological apparatus of the employee competitiveness management system, aimed at ensuring effective interaction between the spheres of work and continuing professional education. The paper aims to audit the concept of employee competitiveness to develop integrity of its use and develop management models and increase the competitiveness of employees in the system of continuing professional education. The authors apply the methods of terminological analysis, comparative analysis and generalizations, analysis of scientific literature and Internet sources, synthesis, system-structural approach. As a result of the study, the definition of “competitiveness of employees” has been adjusted based on an analysis of existing approaches to the concept under study, as well as taking into account its features in the labor market and the system of continuing professional education to achieve an unambiguous understanding of this concept by specialists, various categories of professionals involved in the development of the system of the employee competitiveness management and increasing its level. The authors conclude that it is advisable to form a system for managing the competitiveness of employees, including an analysis of the main management functions and the tools for improving it: when applying for a job in the labor market (in the external environment) and when performing work in production (in the internal environment), and on the possibility of its application when increasing the competitiveness of workers of various categories, spheres of activity, considering the peculiarities of the domestic economy and the Russian market. In addition, the authors propose to use the concept of “competitiveness of employees” by public authorities and state employment services in the development of strategic directions and implementation of measures to manage the competitiveness of workers in the labor market and increase its level; in the pedagogical activity of teachers of educational institutions in labor economics and management.
