In the article, the authors attempt to outline the problematic field of the study of overcoming behavior of exchange students during living and studying abroad on the basis of analysis and generalization of theoretical and applied developments of overcoming behavior.Overcoming behavior is seen as the ability to overcome, cope with the natural life difficulties that arise as a result of the process of interaction of the subject with the environment. The analysis of the theory and practice of using behavioral forms that help exchange students overcome barriers when studying and living abroad allows us to identify the following areas for studying the problem of overcoming behavior of students studying abroad: clarification of the concept, internal and external mechanisms of "overcoming behavior"; classification of forms of overcoming behavior; an experimental determination of the practice of applying forms of overcoming behavior by students studying abroad; development of selection criteria in terms of need for overcoming behavior; the study of the possibilities of purposeful formation of the ability to use adequate forms of overcoming behavior, etc.
