The article deals with issues related to the orientation of student youth to the conscious choice of the teaching profession through the organization of the system of elective training in the context of the interaction between the institution of higher education and the school.Describes the organization of experimental work, which was carried out in two directions. The first direction included a staging experiment, which was to create a comprehensive system of pre- university training in the schools of the Poltava region and was implemented within the framework of the comprehensive theme "Teacher-Higher School-School". The author's participation in the work of this system was in the methodological guidance of teachers of schools, who conducted electives (preparation and distribution of methodological aids, organization of training), conducting individual classes and analyzing the results.The second direction was based on the forming experiment, within which the optimal programs of the elective organization were developed and implemented.
