The article describes the concept of the leader's competence of the modern manager as an integrated personality quality, which consists of the following structural components: cognitive (knowledge), operational-activity  (ability  and ability) and personality (personality traits, general and specific features of the leader). Leadership competence serves as the basis for the successful work of the modern manager in the team, because it consists not only in the qualitative performance of his official duties, but also in the peculiarities of his personal qualities. Therefore, the dominant component is the personal component.
