Multi drug resistant tuberculosis has come up as a separate disease meriting different diagnostic and therapeutic options from conventional tuberculosis. Worldwide there has been considerable increase in MDRTB cases to 60,000 and less than 5% of them get management as desired by various infectious disease bodies. Another entity titled XMDRTB has of late assumed significant proportion of tuberculosis cases which is steaming into a new health related inferno. Some sporadic cases of tuberculosis have come up which are completely resistant to all anti-tubercular drugs, that should be an area of concern for all healthcare givers.
