The article examines the effectiveness of short track classes in the preparation of students at the university. The article briefly examines the history of the development of this sport and determines its relevance. The article reveals the concept of speed-strength qualities that favorably affect the physical and mental development of students, as well as the influence of exercises for speed skating on the body systems of students and athletes. The results of the survey of students are presented. Based on these results, conclusions are drawn about the attitude of students to this sport, as well as conclusions about the organization of physical education classes in general.
