The subject of the article is to clarify the meanings of terms appearing in the areas of research and topics of presentations related to the object "Earth". This is the epistemology and methodology of the formation of geoknowledge as a geoinformation discourse developed in sign systems - verbal and visual, as well as the discussion of the specifics of the presentation of geophenoma by means of virtual reality as a technical embodiment of the works of creative imagination using computer tools and digital technologies. The article focuses on the etymological and linguistic aspects of the problem and the philosophical and axiological status of the issues under discussion.
