The article examines the influence of ethno-linguistic diversity on the rate of economic growth in the regions of the Russian Federation. Today, there is no single opinion on the nature of the impact of ethnic diversity on economic growth. In our work, we assumed that the reason is in the nonlinear nature of the influence of heterogeneity on economic development. Thus, the work empirically demonstrated the ambiguity of the influence of ethno-linguistic diversity on economic growth, it was shown that in regions with a high rate of economic growth, the positive influence of ethnic heterogeneity increases, while in regions with a low rate of growth, its influence, on the contrary, is can become negative.
