The problem of mismatch of labor force qualifications to modern business needs is inherent not only in Russia, but also in the global economy. The analysis of the qualification pit shows that the economy of any country loses GDP from its presence. The article shows that the country's universities produce students who poorly meet the requirements of business. Students with higher and secondary specialized education are becoming more and more numerous, while businesses are experiencing a shortage of qualified personnel. Business uses various forms of solving the problem of labor shortage: they create departments and laboratories in universities, joint training programs, its representatives teach special disciplines, take students on industrial practice and employ not only graduates, but also senior students. The authors of the article propose a mechanism for determining the demand for specialists with the necessary business competencies and skills, and based on it, develop recommendations for planning recruitment to universities and colleges, forms of acquiring knowledge and competencies, which, if not eliminate the qualification hole, but reduce it.
