The article discusses the algorithms for creating new coordinate systems that are not provided for in the list of basic coordinate systems of a geographic information system. The key point of the article is to assess the possibilities and convenience of working with the tools for creating new systems. The analysis is performed on the example of the following GIS, the most common systems in the territory of the Russian Federation, namely: MapInfo and ArcGIS.
