Today, in the era of multiple names, there is a large number of terms for the informal nomination of a person. But despite the large number of linguistic works devoted to their research, there is no systematic understanding of all types of informal nominations of the person, their functions and features. Therefore, the article attempts to classify them and identify their pragmatic functions and lexico-semantic features. To this end, the sites of news portals, blogs, microblogs, entertainment forums were viewed, which presented the authentic use of nicknames by representatives of the German national cultural community.
