On the basis of statistical information, the article discusses the actual problems of the development of the agricultural sector of the Russian agricultural economy. It is noted that in the process of economic reforms of the 1990s, the institutional framework and legal framework for all types of entrepreneurship in rural areas and the formation of a multicultural agricultural economy were created. One of the most important sectors was the farm sector. The article deals with the problems of land use in the farming sector of Russia. The main objective of this study is to identify the main trends and problems of land use in the agricultural sector of the agricultural economy. It is noted that for the formation and development of farms it is necessary: the presence of an appropriate social base, adequate to this form of management material and technical services; regulatory and legal provision, social guarantees and legal protection of farmers.
