The article examines the likelihood of the impact of academic procrastination on the educational motivation of students, which is the driving force of cognition, personal and professional growth. The main theoretical provisions of academic procrastination at this stage of the development of educational psychology are presented. Conclusions about the need to popularize the phenomenon of procrastination in the educational environment and the organization of purposeful work to develop personal competence are drawn.
