Present study was performed to identify and confirm collected larval Chironomid up to species level. Toassess molecular taxonomy and phylogeny, DNA barcoding was done using Sanger dideoxy sequencing ofmitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit I (COI) gene of larval sample. Bioinformatics analysis was done byusing NCBI’s BLAST software. By evidence of DNA barcoding, it was confirmed that present larval chironomidspecies was Chironomus circumdatus Kieffer, 1916.
