The management of sensitive data in the archival material and in the archival finding aids generate different complex archival professional and technical questions. These are related to legal, ethical, technological, procedural and other aspects of describing the archival material in modern archival institutions. The author presents the methods of passive and active metadata protection of sensitive data, which are implemented in Slovenian public archives. At the same time, he also points out some practical and operative deviations from the system of sensitive data management in the archives and which has the negative influence on the development of those archival professional activities.
