The written documents from all spheres of life stored in archives are almost exclusively originals and frequently unique. These originals have a quite special charm and therefore occupy centre-stage in the archive exhibition. The opportunities and limitations of exhibitions showing archives are displayed using exhibitions held by the Bavarian State Archives as an example.
