With the blast of the financial crisis in 2007, the theme of the end of the capitalism became once again fashionable. This article aims to expose the ideas about it of one of the most recognised german sociologists nowadays, Wolfgang Streeck. First, we will introduce his understandings about “capitalism.” Then, how he interprets the end of the capitalism itself. From there we will be able to appreciate the subtle nuances of the narrative he proposes to explain how we arrived at the actual point where we are now. The last section presents the ideological base that, in Streeck’s opinion, holds the current socioeconomic situation. Key words:Streeck; postcapitalism; postsociety; citizenry; investors.
