This article intends to provide an introduction to Edward W. Said and his criticism of the West which has put the East as the object that is read, studied and axamined. So that the study of the East is always read through the perspective of the West which for the West, the East is underdeveloped. In Orientalism, Said attempts to write the West which has such an East position with various forms of imperialism and colonialism, with making the East a subject, that’s Said's explained in the book Orientalism. Keywords: Orientalism, East, Wesr and Said
