In psychology, personality crisis isthe inability in adolescents to establish egoidentification. The psychologist Erikson coined theterm. Identity unity vs. function ambiguity is thestage of psycho-social growth in which identityconflicts arise. Psychological literary criticism hadits base in the psychoanalytical thoughts putforward by Sigmund Freud. After Freud, sometheories by Neo-Freudians such as Jung and Adleralso became a part of it. Critics, who choosePsychological literary criticism, champion oneparticular psychological theory and apply it toworks of all the authors. Considering this,Fromm's Humanistic Psychoanalysis has a lot ofscope to be used as a theory for Psychologicalliterary criticism. The current study aims to fillthis gap in the psychological literature, linkingMaslow’s theory to contemporary theory andresearch on personality and well-being.
