- In India railways transportation service isthe cheapest and most convenient mode of passengertransport as well as for long distance and suburbantraffic. Almost 80% of the transport in India is beingcarried out by railway network. The main cause of theaccidents happened in railways are railway trackcrossing and unidentified crack in rail tracks. About60% accidents are happened at railway track crossingand due to crack in railway tracks resulting in loss ofprecious life of passengers and loss of economy. Therefore, there is a need to have new technologywhich will be robust, efficient and stable for both crackdetection in railway track as well as object detection. This project discusses a Railway track crack detectionusing sensors and is a dynamic approach whichcombines the use of GPS tracking system and GSMmodule to send alert messages and the geographicalcoordinate of location. An Arduino Microcontroller isused to control and coordinate the activities of thisdevice.
